Fiction Up Your Health Knowledge
Fiction Up Your Health Knowledge
I learn so much about science, space, health, human nature and the world around us by enjoying fiction. Sometimes fiction is more true than reality.
Early on in my reading life I discovered John Wyndham and C.S. Lewis. Three of my constant favourites are Mercedes Lackey, Michael Crichton and Orson Scott Card.Sometimes fiction is more true than reality.

The human body viewed from a scientific lens is complex, I will give you that. I quantify the mystery a different way. What I like to do is to break things down to understandable concepts, using familiar cultural reference points.
I like the every man’s version of anatomy and physiology. I like ‘Quantum Physics for Dummies’.
Cracking the Code of medical jargon
To take back our power we need to crack the code of medical jargon. [Tweet “To take back our power we need to crack the code of medical jargon”]
I will give you an example. The word ‘Arthritis’ means body pain. No more, no less. The word ‘virus’ means ‘toxin’. That in itself describes most of its danger.
So how does a virus work?
I think of the Star Trek movie ‘First Contact’. Remember the Borg?
The Borg had a hive mind with a queen. They were mechanistic but needed an organic host (humans) to live in. When Captain Picard was kidnapped by the Borg and was messed with, well……… it was very upsetting.
Virus: Attaches to the cell wall, drills its way through and then through the nucleus and takes over command. That’s virus.
It replicates like wildfire and spreads. Has a consciousness. It changes us. Viruses are also part of the science of cloning and genetically modifying foods and crops.
Viruses are usually the number one underlying issue with all other chronic infections. I think of them like ‘velcro’. Everything else sticks to it.
Bacteria: Are like the barbarian hoard in Gladiator. No organization, no leader, it just attacks and dissolves the cell membrane and feeds on the mess. It reproduces like mad!
Mixed Infections: Opportunistic organisms such as virus, bacteria, parasites, fungus can cross-breed with one another, or hook together with a heavy metal or an emotional chemistry or anything else they darn well please and create a ‘street gang’ of trouble. When your immune system is busy fighting one kid, another kid is breaking the storefront window in behind. If you find your body not responding to the treatment that usually works for you, suspect a street gang.
How Infections Hurt Us
Taking a supplement of acidophilus or sauerkraut helps to fill the space to crowd out infectious bacteria, yeast, fungus and parasites. Above all, having a wellness program in place can really give our systems the edge we need in case of ‘alien invasion’.
And we haven’t even talked yet about the rampant proliferation of yeast and fungus. Fungus is part of the decay mechanism in our bodies . When these organisms are ignored by our immune system while we are still walking around it is a sign of immune malfunction.
Maybe epidemic candida could be likened to a Zombie apocalypse!
Are you a sci-fi or fantasy fiction junkie? What would you suggest I read for ‘my own good’.
